As each layer of color is applied to the surface a layer of clear varnish follows to envelope those colors. Black is never used in Richard's palette. The absence of black combined with the glazing technique allows increased luminosity and further intensity of color. The result is a rich brilliance within the darkest colors and a real life sense of light within the lightest colors. An original piece of art is something that is enjoyed daily by one or by many.
